Registering a .IE Domain Name
If you're looking to register a .ie domain name with SingleSync, there are some specific rules and requirements in place, as .ie domains are regulated to protect the Irish namespace.
Who Can Register a .IE Domain?
To register a .ie domain, you must show a connection to Ireland. This applies to individuals, businesses, charities, clubs, and organisations.
You do not need to be based in Ireland, but you must demonstrate a link — such as Irish customers, business relationships, or citizenship.
What Do I Need to Provide?
To complete your registration, you’ll need to provide:
-
Proof of identity or business
Examples:-
Passport or driver's licence (for individuals)
-
CRO certificate or VAT number (for businesses)
-
Charity number or club registration (for organisations)
-
-
Evidence of your connection to Ireland
Examples:-
Irish address or utility bill
-
Tax documents or CRO records
-
A claim to citizenship or trading relationship with Ireland
-
-
Claim to the domain name
You must show why you’re registering the name (e.g. it matches your company name, product, or personal name).
The domain registrar (that’s us!) will guide you through this after placing your order.
FastPass for Existing .IE Domain Holders
If you already own a .ie domain and are listed as the holder, you may be eligible for FastPass, a quicker registration process that skips most documentation.
How Long Does It Take?
Once you provide the required documents, domains are typically approved and activated within 1–2 working days.
